Basic Exterior or Premium Exterior?
Basic Exterior is a careful hand wash, wheels and tires cleaned, and the exterior glass and door jambs wiped down — good maintenance for a vehicle that is already in decent shape. Premium Exterior adds a foam pre-wash, detailed wheel and tire cleaning, tire dressing, an exterior trim treatment and a spray wax/sealant for protection. If you want the paint protected rather than just clean, Premium is the one to book.
What gets cleaned in an exterior detail
- Wheels and tires cleaned, including the wheel faces and barrels where reachable
- Paint washed by hand with fresh wash media — never an automatic brush wash
- Exterior glass cleaned on all sides
- Door jambs wiped down
- Premium only: tire dressing, exterior trim treatment and spray wax/sealant
Adding paint decontamination
Washing removes what is sitting on top of your paint. Decontamination removes what has bonded to it — overspray, brake dust, rail dust and other embedded particles — leaving the surface noticeably smoother. It is an optional add-on to exterior work and is usually around $40–60 depending on the size and condition of the vehicle.
